At the end of 2019, British Retail Consortium (BRC) food safety and quality audit was completed in “Orkla Latvija” marshmallow production facility and acquired the highest possible assessment – level AA.
“Thanks to faithful, precise and well organised work and successfully carried out development projects, we have managed to make our marshmallow factory even more competitive. At the end of the previous year, we received a certificate with the high A level assessment, but this year we have grown and have established ourselves even better. The certification in compliance with BRC standard requirements provides a possibility to demonstrate reliable partner reputation and promotes further growth of the company in export markets and enables entering new markets,” says Toms Didrihsons, “Orkla Latvija” CEO.
As previously reported, over recent years, several significant investment projects have been carried out in marshmallow and cookie manufacturing plants by improving production lines, processes of finished produce and supply flow, as well as improvements in sanitation, to meet the highest food safety standards.
BRC food safety and quality certificate is the leading food quality certificate in the world. This certificate is required by many leading retail stores in Europe and world before starting collaboration or continuing it because it provides reassurance of the high quality manufacturing processes in the company.
“Orkla Latvija” cookie and chips factory is also certified by BRC food safety and quality standard. Moreover, “Orkla Latvija” chocolate, cookie, waffle and marshmallow manufacturing plants have been certified in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 quality management system standard and two – “Pedro” and “Staburadze” – according to ISO 22 000 food safety standard, creating a production in accordance with the highest quality standards.
As previously reported, “Orkla Latvija” parent company “Orkla” has decided to secure cookie manufacturing intra-group and build a new manufacturing plant in Latvia, Ādaži, next to the new “Laima” production facility. It will specialize only in cookie and waffle manufacturing and is going to be the largest factory of its kind in the Baltic States and Scandinavia. This is going to be the largest investment in the food manufacturing industry in Latvia over the recent years and is going to create 250 new workplaces. The new production facility is estimated to start working at the end of the year 2022.
